FAQS About Trauma-Informed Therapy in San Diego, CA
You already have enough on your plate. I’ve gathered these FAQs to help make the logistics of starting therapy as simple and transparent as possible. If there is anything else on your mind, please don’t hesitate to ask.

While I primarily work with women, especially during the postpartum period and early motherhood, I also work with dads, non-birthing parents, and individuals who aren’t parents. My practice is inclusive and affirming of all genders, identities, and cultural backgrounds, including those in the LGBTQ+ community.
-
Since my practice is 100% virtual, I can see anyone residing anywhere in the State of California. For my Infant Massage classes, there are no residency requirements—you can join from anywhere in the world!
-
My practice is 100% virtual, serving residents throughout the State of California. This allows for more flexibility and accessibility—no commute, just connection. You can show up exactly as you are; infants, breastfeeding, and bottle-feeding are always welcome in our virtual space.
-
Yes, I am an in-network provider for Aetna, United Healthcare, and Optum. For other providers, I can provide a Superbill that you can submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement (often 50-80%).
-
I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform designed specifically for healthcare. Before our session, you’ll receive a unique link via email. You just need a reliable internet connection and a private space where you feel comfortable.
-
Please don’t worry about that for a second. Infants, breastfeeding, and bottle-feeding are always welcome. My practice is built to support the realities of parenthood, not add to your stress. We can keep working through the feeds and the fussiness, or take a moment if you need one.
-
My approach is deeply collaborative; I view us as partners in your healing. I don't believe in a "one-size-fits-all" model. Instead, I tailor our sessions to your specific story, values, and how you personally benefit from support.
-
I integrate evidence-based tools to help you move from “surviving” to “thriving”, including:
ACT: To help you stop fighting your thoughts and start living a life guided by your values.
Mindfulness: To calm the nervous system and build self-compassion.
EMDR: To help the brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer feel overwhelming.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy:
ACT helps you build a relationship with your thoughts and feelings rather than getting stuck fighting them. By clarifying what matters most to you and practicing acceptance, ACT supports you in creating a life guided by your values instead of by anxiety, stress, or fear.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy:
Mindfulness-based therapy uses present-moment awareness to reduce stress and calm the nervous system. By learning to observe your thoughts and emotions without judgment, you can develop more balance, resilience, and self-compassion in daily life.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR):
EMDR is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories and experiences so they no longer feel overwhelming. Through guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, EMDR allows you to heal from past experiences and feel more grounded and at ease in the present.

I do not offer traditional couples therapy, but I do specialize in Relational Therapy for individuals. We focus on your unique patterns—like people-pleasing, shutting down during conflict, or feeling "too much"—to help you build more secure, connected relationships with others and with yourself.
-
Our first session will focus on getting to know each other. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, your goals, and any past therapy experiences—both positive and challenging. I want to hear your story, learn who you are, and understand how I can best support your needs.
-
Most clients find that weekly sessions are the most effective for building momentum and seeing real change. However, we will collaborate to find a rhythm that feels sustainable for your life and your specific goals.
-
Every therapeutic journey is different. I offer a slow, steady pace that allows for extended, consistent care, and while some find value in short-term therapy, others prefer a longer-term relationship.
I have had clients graduate from therapy or decide to take a break, and come back when certain circumstances may increase their need for therapy. I am always happy to hear from past clients no matter how long it has been.
-
I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Because I maintain a small, intentional caseload to ensure I can give my full presence to each client, I ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to reschedule so I can offer that time to someone else.
-
The best way to begin is by scheduling a complimentary 15-minute consultation. This is a low-pressure way for us to connect and see if we are a good fit. Schedule your consultation here.
